“Where
flying is a way of life”

Unfortunately, we will not be offering

Flying Trapeze
classes at the St. Louis Science Center have been canceled

The St. Louis
School of Circus Arts was started in the Summer of 2003 by Alexandre Sacha
Pavlata as a place where people of all ages can learn REAL circus skills from
REAL circus professionals. The school
teaches students the joy of living. Both
children and adults can achieve self-esteem, confidence, and optimism through
overcoming fears and mastering new skills.

The staff of
Sacha’s St. Louis School of Circus Arts are world renowned circus performers.
Alexandre Sacha Pavlata One of the founders of Circus Flora,
Sacha is a sixth generation circus performer and circus arts teacher who
emigrated from Czechoslovakia in 1965.
He was a Master Teacher, Tentmaster,
and Star Performer with the Big Apple Circus in New York after many years as a
performer in Europe and a teacher with the Conservatoire Nationale du Cirque in
Paris.
Sacha is internationally respected for
his ability as a teacher and trainer of other performers. Continuing his commitment to teach circus
arts to America’s young people, Sacha has conducted circus arts instruction in
inner-city programs in Denver, Los Angeles, and Scottsdale. He has taught summer camps at the Center of
Contemporary Arts in St. Louis for eight years, and is returning this year for
another amazing summer teaching at his own school.
Sacha believes that teaching circus
arts to children and adults also teaches them how to control fear, work
together as a team, and learn trust, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

Brothers Robinson and Alex Cortes
are fourth-generation circus performers from Colombia, South America. Robinson
has been the main flyer of their trapeze act, The Flying Cortes, for 25 years and now replaces their father as
catcher, handing the flying over to his brother Alex. Alex began flying when he
was only five years old; he is renowned for performing the famed triple
somersault. They have performed with
circuses such as Circus Vargas, Bentley Brothers Circus, and Ringling Bros.
Barnum and Bailey. They have been
teaching circus skills for over 8 years.
When Alida
Wallenda and Robinson married, she not only joined the family but also
joined in the act. She is a seventh-generation member of the famous Flying
Wallenda family and has been teaching with Sacha for over 12 years. Alida has performed on Cloudswing, Double
Trapeze, Horseback Riding, Spanish Web, and she recently won a silver trophy
performing the “Wallenda 7 Person Pyramid” along with Sacha, Robinson, and her
family in Monte Carlo.
